The discipline Biostatistics is primarily focused on the application of statistical methods in medical and life sciences research. The main driver is the interaction between problems from medical research and rigorous mathematical analysis. The specialized Master Program in Biostatistics is open to students with (Bachelor) degrees from different fields with sufficient mathematical and statistical component in the curriculum such as, for example, mathematics, statistics and physics. It is offered jointly by the Institute of Mathematics and the Division of Biostatistics of the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine. Admission is based on a written application, the admission committee can in certain cases require certain conditions which can be fulfilled before or during the program.
